Independence Day of Sri Lanka

Independence Day of Sri Lanka was commemorated at the Cathedral with the hoisting the National Flag on Sunday 2^nd February 2020 prior to the Sunday Service. The flag was hoisted by Rt. Revd. Dhiloraj Canagasabey, Bishop of Colombo and Ven. Perry Brohier, Vicar of the Cathedral. The Sunday school children holding small flags were dressed up representing the 4 ethnicities in Sri Lanka. The Service commenced with the children walking up the aisle in procession holding the national flag. During the service they sang ‘We are Sri Lanka’ while the Cathedral Choir sang the special Anthem ‘I Vow to Thee My Country’ both of which expresses the unity of all communities living in Sri Lanka.
