The Sunday school children, teachers, and parents made considerable preparations for several weeks for their very worthy outreach project for the children at the ‘House of Joy’ in Talawa. Subsequently, on 16th December 2019 a group comprising 11 children and 5 teachers together with Ven. Perry Brohier and Rev. Earnest Nadeem visited Talawa to share the joy of Christmas with the 16 children at the ‘House of Joy’. The program that commenced with a brief worship session was followed by the distribution of School requirements and Christmas gifts contributed by the Sunday school children and the Cathedral congregation. The gift packages included school bags, stationery, vouchers for shoes, toiletries and many bags with lots of goodies. These were personally handed over by the Cathedral Sunday school youngsters to each of the children at the ‘House of Joy’. The personal contact established a brief but memorable link. The ‘House of Joy’ is a safe home for girls established by Missionary Evelyn Karney who served the people of Talawa, a village in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka.
